Musicpreneur

Jacque started in music the same way many young people participate in music. Singing in his elementary school’s glee clubs and choir allowed him to delve deep into both producing and performing music. He also played trumpet in his junior high school band. This interest continued through elementary school all the way to high school and eventually into college.

Under the direction of the well-regarded and well-respected vocal instructor Loren Plant, Jacque studied voice at Sinclair Community College and continued at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio where he minored in music theatre. After years of learning the business, recording and producing through his working associations with the members of successful R & B groups The Ohio Players (Love Rollercoaster, Skin Tight, Fire)  and Slave (Slide, Watching you, Weak at the Knees), Jacque re-located to the Big Apple to start his music publishing company with affiliates BMI (Broadcast Music Inc.).

After a brief stint in New York City, Jacque then moved to New Haven, CT to network with the Yale creative community and found himself in the company of established artists such as “The Marshall Tucker Band”, “Public Enemy”, “Tower of Power” and Lenny Kravitz to name a few via Toad’s Place, a nationally recognized music venue located in New Haven.

As fate would have it, through the advice of a valued business associate Jacque eventually made his way up ol’ Route 8 to the beautiful Berkshire Hills of Northwest Connecticut to a cozy, mill town turned arts destination community called Torrington aka T-Town. He has lived and worked there for over two decades, establishing his music network objectives, collaborating with artists, promoting, producing and performing in live shows and DJing well over 350 weddings.

Jacque still performs in New York City and has performed at the Bitter End “Monday Nite Jam” hosted by veteran saxophonist, music industry ambassador and mentor, Richie Cannata. He is currently the director of the Singer Songwriter Network, located in Torrington, CT. This music organization provides support activities, programs, and resources for original artists performing original music. He is also a commissioner of ACT, the Arts and Culture Commission of Torrington and is a member of the Northwest Hills Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Jacque was instrumental in helping ACT become relevant in downtown Torrington and in building the arts as an economic engine in Torrington and throughout N.W. Connecticut.

Jacque’s local television career started with the cable access show entitled “The CREW,” an acronym for Connecticut Recreational Entertainment Network. The show focused on highlighting music venues, remote performances, and interviews with community leaders; covering the many arts activities and projects taking place throughout the region in a variety show style format. Currently Jacque is the host of the cable access show City Views CT. The show keeps Litchfield County residents up to date with arts, events, and cultural happenings in the upper northwest corner of CT. Follow us weekly on YouTube as we interview special guests and discuss topics of interest to you!

Jacque is also an on-air personality with local community radio station WAPJ. His show, entitled “The Feel Good Show,” airs Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 am until Noon at 89.9  and 105.1 FM, with a live stream in stereo at WAPJ.com
